Elijah Hodge on Iowa: 'A Great Fit'

<P>Florida LB Elijah Hodge (6-1, 200, 4.7) says Iowa leads slightly over Miami (visited, no offer), Florida St (no offer), North Carolina St and Duke (first offer). Other offers include Auburn, Pittsburgh, Rutgers (visited) and Ohio St. Read more of what Hodge has to say about the Hawkeyes and how he feels he could fit in in Iowa City.

"Iowa has a great atmosphere and the fans there are great," says Hodge, from Ft. Lauderdale Dillard. "My brother (LB Abdul Hodge) also goes there and I think I'd just be a great fit. The coaching staff there has really turned the entire program around. And they are getting better each year.

"Miami plays some hard-nosed football and the defense there goes after the offense…they don't wait for anything. They play man-to-man and I like how the LBs blitz a lot and the different schemes of the defense. They don't just sit around in a zone. Coach (Vernon) Hargreaves (LBs) and I have talked a lot about the offer. It's just not in on paper yet.

"Florida St has a great tradition and they've had some great LBs that have come through there. They get after the opposition and are just so aggressive. They play some team ball and everybody there knows their role. There has been no indication from them on an offer. I haven't sent my highlight tape there either.

"North Carolina St plays some good speed football. Their defense has a lot of speed. I like their campus and the top of the line facilities that they have.

"Duke was the first to offer and the first to acknowledge me. They've showed the most love and have always been there. They don't have any all-stars really and the team isn't built around one man--everybody feeds off each other."

Hodge says he expects to officially trip to Iowa, North Carolina St, Duke, Ohio St and Pittsburgh--no dates.
