TE James Dray Will Visit Iowa, Denies Leader

TE James Dray denies a leader, but lists favorites.

Oradell (NJ) TE James Dray (6-5, 230, 4.6) denies a leader but favors Stanford, Boston College (visited), Tennessee and Iowa.

"I've got to see these places before I put one above the rest," says Dray, from Bergen Catholic.

"Stanford has great academics and I've also got some family that live in the area. I've gotten to know the coaches pretty well over the phone too. I like how they throw to their TEs a lot over there and the fact that they're 3-1 don't hurt them--they almost beat USC! Coach (Bill) Cubit (off coord/QBs) used to coach at Rutgers and he's a Jersey guy that I've gotten to know and like.

"Boston College has a lot of guys from New Jersey that go there. Coaches (Bill) McGovern (LBs), (Jim) Bridge (TEs) and (Tom) O'Brian are all great guys. The players there are great--I know some that go there and also some that have graduated. The TE now catches the ball, runs and blocks--just like me. They utilize him well, and I'd do the same if I go there.

"Tennessee just offered a couple weeks ago and I've always been interested in them. They get guys to the NFL and that's what I want. I like the South and the fact that they play in a tough division.

"Iowa has a great coaching staff and I really like coach (Kirk) Ferentz. I've also developed a good relationship with coach (Eric) Johnson (rec coord/TEs) and they really just have a good powerhouse football program. They are always a winning team."

Dray has other offers from Nebraska, Notre Dame, Rutgers, U Conn, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, and West Virginia.

He will officially visit Stanford (12/10), Boston College (12/17), Tennessee (1/4) and Iowa.
