Greenway, Hinkel Talk About Beating Penn State

Iowa reeled off its third consecutive win with a tight 6-4 victory Saturday at Penn State. The Hawkeyes can become bowl eligible with a win next week at Illinois. "We really needed it, I think for more than one reason obviously and I think we really took a focus this week that really took us to the next level as far as practice and preparation, that we really knew that we had to buckle down and grow up and come out here and play," Hawkeye LB Chad Greenway said.

On the score:

(score) It was unbelievable. I've never seen anything like it. I mean, I've been playing football since fourth grade and 6 to 4 is unbelievable. No offensive touchdowns. No defensive touchdowns. Kicking and safeties. But it's fun. If you play on the defense, this is what you want. You don't want it to be 49 to 41.

On if there is any disappointment in the closeness of the game:

No, not at all. We're in Big 10 play, every game's tough. You can get a win by a half a point if they'd let you.

On the a tough week:

It was emotional up to the point where we wanted to get this win. We really needed it, I think for more than one reason obviously and I think we really took a focus this week that really took us to the next level as far as practice and preparation, that we really knew that we had to buckle down and grow up and come out here and play.

On emotions flowing out after the game:

It was, but you're gonna get that with a big win like this. The team was emotional and coach was obviously emotional and it was just a fun win.

On the coach leaving during the week:

We knew he had a tough situation and kinda wanted to handle it his own way.

On the play of Sean Considine:

He's just out there making plays. He's the quarterback of the defense. He watches more film than the coaches I think. He's in there, he knows what's happening, he's calling out plays and they happen all the time. He knows what's going on out there. He's nice to have back on the field, I mean not that Miguel played bad, Miguel was out there making plays and playing hard, but it's just nice to have that senior leader back on the defense.

ED HINKEL

On the ugly nature of the game:

It doesn't really matter to me. A win's a win and we'll take it.

On the offense:

We struggled moving the ball all day and they did a great job and just luckily our defense came to play today and they were really ready. On thier defense:

They were just bringing a lot of pressure and it's hard to play any team that brings a lot of pressure, so we just kept working through it and making some adjustments.
