What do you remember about the 2002 Minnesota game?
The goal post going down and things like that. Us clinching the Big Ten title. Good memories like that.
And it's a terrible surface to play on. That's one thing I remember. But that's been improved.
People say that it's Kinnick North, and that's for good reason. Our fans travel so well up there. Our fans get up there in masses. They're loud, and that place gets rocking.
And you're expecting it to be the same way?
I would expect it to be the same way. I don't know if it's sold out or what the deal is, but I'm sure our fans will get up there. I know my family will be up there.
What was it like watching Kirk being carried off?
It was a feeling for our team and for the program just we knew we'd come so far in four years to that point. Let's just hope we can go back up there...this is a big win for our team this year. I don' think he'll be carried off, but it's the same kind of situation. We really need this win.
The goal posts probably won't go down?
They probably have the things that we have in Kinnick right now where they get them down quick.
Do you worry about your fans writing a check that you guys are going to have to cash two years later?
I don't think so. I don't think the Gopher players are sitting back and thinking, "You know, we've got to get these guys back because their fans pulled our goal posts down." But it's probably something their fans get mad about just because we kind of took over the place. The Hawkeye fans will do that sometimes. But that was just a sight I'll probably never see again.
If that had happened here, would you remember?
Yeah. That would never happen though because they would be beat before they got there. I'm sure the student section would meet them half way, and I think they would have a problem with it.
But if they did it here in Kinnick, we would definitely remember it. If you think of it that way, maybe there players do remember it.
