Bain Still Talking about Iowa Visit

This summer, we dubbed Jake Christensen, Dan Doering, Rahkeem Smith, Dace Richardson, Tony Moeaki, David Moosman and Ryan Bain the 'Chicago Seven', as in Iowa's seven primary targets from the Windy City. Christensen committed, and Iowa is still actively recruiting the other players. Of the uncommitted, Doering, Richardson and Moeaki will be in Iowa City this weekend. One of those players, Ryan Bain, was in Iowa City for the Wisconsin game and has even more great things to say about Iowa.

Illinois DL Ryan Bain (6-2, 268, 4.8,'s #24 DT, 4 stars) still denies a leader but favors Purdue (10/22 official trip), Wisconsin (11/6 official trip), Iowa (11/19 official trip) Minnesota and Michigan State. All offered.

"I'm still pretty open to all of these teams right now. I plan on announcing my commitment at the All-American game in January," says Bain, from Bolingbrook.

"My trip to Iowa a couple weeks ago went good. I really liked it. Going there for an official makes my decision kind of hard because it doesn't get much better than that. But I did like my trips to Wisconsin and Purdue as well.

"My host at Iowa was Matt Kroul (DL/redshirt FR). We got to go out for a bit with each other and he showed me around the campus. He also introduced me to Kenny Iwebema (DE/redshirt FR).

"The highlight of the trip was probably the game, although that is not the deciding factor. They did win the Big Ten conference that game. It was cool to see the crowd storm the field and rip down the goal posts after they won. Seeing the crowd carry Matt Roth (DL) off the field was great. I thought that was kind of crazy.

"I like all of the coaches at Iowa. They are starting to rebuild the program there. I mean 30 wins in three seasons--only a couple of teams have accomplished that before. And they've also won two Big Ten titles in three seasons.

"I recently had an in-home visit (11/29) with coach (Greg) Hudson (def coord) from Minnesota. The visit went really well. Coach Hudson stayed for about three hours. We got to know each other pretty well. We discussed a lot of different things, mostly not really talking about football, but other stuff.

"Some of the things we did talk about concerning football had to do with the depth at my position there. But I'm going to just have to wait and see how my official visit there goes.

Bain will officially visit Minnesota this weekend (12/10). "I will not have any time to take an official visit to Michigan State."
