Van Coleman and FutureStars Basketball L.C. is proud to announce that Thom McDonald, current Director of Basketball Operations at Championship Productions and Commissioner of the Iowa Community Colege Athletic Conference has become a partner and part owner of FutureStars Basketball. He replaces Al Lorenzen who has taken an assistant athletic director position at Drake University. Mr. McDonald will be in charge of FutureStars Camps and Shootouts and will assist founder Van Coleman with the development of a scouting service for college coaches.
Thom McDonald's Bio:
- Thom McDonald is currently the basketball director of Championship Productions, Inc. He supervises the company's strategies for development and distribution of skill and training videos produced by the nations's top college basketball coaches.
- Coach McDonald is the Commissioner for the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference where he supervises officials and scheduling of the state's two junior college conferences. Prior to that, Coach McDonald was the basketball commissioner for the Iowa Games Annual Sports Festival and the Program Director at the John R. Grubb YMCA.
- Coach McDonald served as an assistant coach at Drake University under both Rudy Washington and current Drake Coach Kurt Kanaskie. Prior to joining the Drake staff he was the headbasketball coach at Perry and West Lyon high schools in Iowa.
- Coach McDonald served as the summer camp director for several college coaches' basketball camps including Johnny Orr, Rudy Washington, Kurt Kanaskie and Larry Eustachy. He has run numerous coaches clinics and basketball academies across the country for the Iowa Games, FutureStars and various college programs. He has been involved in developing the skills of the Midwest's top young basketball talent over the past eleven years since joining with FutureStars Basketball.
