Freddie Lenix visited Iowa this weekend and enjoyed the trip.

"It went all right," Lenix said. "I met all the coaches, a couple players, and I saw around town. What stood out to me, I mean, what everybody was trying to tell me about Iowa - like it's out in a corn field - it's really not. It was really nice.

"It's smaller than Columbus, but the people are still good out there. You really couldn't tell a difference. It's the same stuff, just smaller."

Lenix stays the Hawkeyes are still at the top of this list.

"Yeah, I would say so," he said. "But like I said, things might change after I visit Ohio State."

Lenix was recently offered a scholarship by the Buckeyes. He will make his official visit to OSU in January, along with safety Jamario O'Neal, a Glenville teammate and OSU verbal.

"Yeah, I'll be coming down with Jamario sometime in January," Lenix said. "I don't know the exact date."

Lenix will visit Michigan State next week. He is also considering Wisconsin, which he visited last week.

But, Ohio State and Iowa are the schools to beat.

Lenix has been in close contact with OSU's coaching staff.

"Yeah, I've been talking to them," he said. "Last week, Coach (Mel) Tucker was up here and we talked. I talk to Coach Tucker on the phone a lot, and Coach (Luke) Fickell too."

The 6-0, 205-pound Lenix is not sure if he'll play linebacker or safety in college. He's a hard hitter with speed, much in the Cie Grant mold.

"They talk about, if I like put on the weight, I can play linebacker," he said. "But if I stay the way I am, I'll play safety."

The confident Lenix was asked for his strengths and weaknesses on the football field.

"My strength is that I've got intensity coming to the ball," he said. "And I can't really think of no weaknesses."
