Trey Stross is a U.S. Army All-American and the senior from Avon Lake (Ohio) is humbled by the week ahead. He's all nerves about the game on Saturday but things will quickly settle into place for this future Iowa wide receiver.
"It's a great honor and I am a little nervous," said Stross. "There are just a few athletes that are chosen and I can wait for this experience. I am also excited to be playing with my future quarterback at Iowa (Jake Christensen) and hopefully a few other players."
Stross, 6-3 and 190 pounds, committed to the Hawkeyes back in the summer. It was an easy decision for him.
"I love the Iowa coaches and players but more than anything it was just the right feeling for me. I really related to everyone there and I fit into their offense so well. It's just like ours in high school. It's balanced. The run sets up the pass and the pass sets up the run.
"It is a little hard to leave the state but I actually grew up a Penn State fan so it will be hard to play against those guys."
Iowa is awaiting word on several of the prospects playing in Saturday's game. Now Stross the wide receiver has turned into Stross the recruiter.
"Oh yeah. I am working on Dace (Richardson), Tony (Moeaki) and Dan (Doering). I need them blocking for Jake (Christensen)."
