Focus 2006: OL Odrick has Iowa offer

After their record offensive line recruiting haul in 2005, the Hawkeyes are looking for more of the nation's best trenchmen, and they have an offer out to Lebanon, Pa. OL Jared Odrick. In fact, Iowa was his first offer. Read more from Odrick in this update on a Class of 2006 Prospect

One of the top lineman in the Northeast Region this season is Lebanon (Pa.) offensive tackle/defensive end Jared Odrick, 6-6 and 285 pounds. He has received offers from Penn State, Virginia, Iowa, Connecticut, and Maryland. Odrick attended junior day programs at Penn State a few weeks ago, and at Virginia (2/19).

"I really liked the campus, I really like Coach Johnson; I've been to Penn State a few times." Odrick said.

"I really liked Virginia, they have a real family atmosphere down there," Odrick said. "I just felt really comfortable there. They want me to play defensive end and I like that."

Odrick began receiving offers midway into his junior season. Iowa and Connecticut were his first two and he remembers them well.

"I sent my first tape to Iowa and they offered," Odrick said "Connecticut offered shortly after the first few games of last season."

Because Odrick is blessed with size, speed, and athleticism, he has his choice of schools lining up for his services. Virginia, Penn State, Iowa, Connecticut, and Maryland have all offered in writing. Northwestern, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Michigan, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Michigan State, Indiana, Notre Dame, Miami, and Vanderbilt are all showing interest.

"I've been to games at Maryland, Virginia, Penn State, and Pittsburgh," Odrick said. "I'm hoping to go on a Midwest tour this year and visit Michigan, Iowa, Notre Dame, and possibly Michigan State and Indiana. I might do a southern trip as well to visit Virginia, Maryland, Tennessee, West Virginia, Vanderbilt, and maybe Miami."

Last season at offensive tackle Odrick did not allow a single sack. On defense he registered 90 tackles, and 9 sacks. He earned 2nd team Associated Press All-State honors, as a sophomore he earned 3rd team All-State honors. Odrick has been selected as a 1st team All-County selection three consecutive years.
