This past recruiting season, one of the Hawkeye's main priorities at WR was finding a taller possession wide receiver that also possessed the athletic ability needed in the Big Ten. They missed out this year and now that priority will carry over into the 03' class. Right now, Todd Blythe is certainly one of their top targets at this early stage.
"Todd has great size," Indianola Head Coach Dave Summy said. "He has good wheels to go along with his size as he is a 4.5 guy. He was 1st team everything last season with 60 receptions and seven interceptions on the defensive side."
Todd can do it all as he even returns kicks and punts for us. He plays basketball, runs track, and plays baseball, also. Not to mention, he will be bringing a 3.8 GPA along with him."
Obviously, actions speak louder than words and many around the CIML saw the actions of Todd Blythe on the field this past season. Now that attention will be carrying over nationally as Todd has already seen a list of suitors come his way.
"I have offers from Iowa and Iowa State," Todd said. "I also receive mail from Kansas State, Nebraska, Wisconsin, UCLA, Stanford, Missouri, Colorado, Notre Dame, and Northwestern."
Although it has to be an honor for Todd to receive so much early attention, will it take long for Todd to make his decision?
"Iowa State first offered near the end of my junior season, and Iowa was a couple weeks later. Personally, I was shocked at first as it was surprising. Although, I was still very honored and excited at the same time. I would like to make my decision before the start of football season so I can focus on my senior season. I'll probably stay in-state, or at least very close to Iowa."
Expect Todd to camp at both in-state universities this summer. Todd will also be participating in a NIKE Camp this summer, which is exclusively covered all around the nation right here at TheInsiders.com.
This past weeekend, Todd made a visit to Iowa State and came away quite impressed.
"It went pretty well and it was fun. I had seen everything there before as it was mainly a basic fact of just developing better chemistry. However, my parents and I both got to sit down with Coach McCarney for the first time."
Coach Ferentz will be awarded his first chance this weekend to sit down with Todd and his parents. This will be a very important recruitment to watch over the spring and summer. Hawk fans will have to put Todd's name near the top of the most wanted list for the February, 2003 Signing Day!
