Ohio Back Favors Big Ten Schools

Bruce Frieson, a 5-foot-8, 185-pound tailback from Glenville High School in Cleveland Ohio, lists Iowa, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Michigan State and Pittsburgh as his current favorites.

"We went to Michigan State in a camp in the summer and I liked them as far as what their training was and their facilities. That was the first big school I went to so I was interested in them.

"I always like the way Iowa plays, their type of program and the type of backs. I'm not going to say that they don't play big backs but they give small backs a chance too.

"And Wisconsin I just like that team since I was young because of Ron Dayne. He was a good running back and I always wanted to picture myself being a running back like him in college for Wisconsin.

"And Ohio State, I mean the players from Glenville that are there, they are doing real good: Ted (Ginn Jr.), Donte (Whitner), Troy (Smith)… it shows that people from our type of neighborhoods, we could make it big over there at Ohio State."

Frieson, who boasts a 290-pound bench press and a 4.45 40-yard dash, does not have any scholarship offers at this time. He has been hearing from Illinois, Syracuse, Iowa, Eastern Michigan, Purdue and Boston College. He said he expects to go to about eight camps with his team this summer, including trips to Eastern Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State.
