Jeremy Maclin Talks Favorites, Iowa

Missouri prep receiver Jeremy Maclin has been getting a lot of attention on the Scout.com network as of late, and he is certainly a target that Iowa has its eyes on. In our latest update on Maclin, he talks about his favorites that include Iowa, as well as his belief that Iowa is going to play for a national title in the coming years...

Missouri wide receiver Jeremy Maclin (6-0, 175, 4.4) denies a top five, claiming written offers from Michigan State, Illinois, Missouri, Indiana, Mississippi and Iowa.

"I don't have a top five right now. Not for real," said Maclin, from Kirkwood SR High School.

"I've definitely got some interest in programs that have offered me, like Iowa, Michigan State and Illinois. And I've also got interest in others that haven't offered me, like Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Miami.

"I've spoken with coach (Seth) Littrell (running backs) from Texas Tech. He told me that I'm the #1 wide receiver on their list and they're probably going to only take one at the end of the year. Hopefully they'll offer.

"I talked with coach (Darrell) Wyatt (wide receivers) from Oklahoma on the phone. Basically we both told each other that we're interested in each other. I like how they pass the ball. That's pretty much all it takes for me to like a school," he said.

"I haven't been in any contact with the coaches at Miami.

"I like Iowa's program because they're on-the-rise right now. They've been a top ten team for the past three years, and in the next couple of years, I think they're going to win a national championship. I've spoken with coach (Eric) Johnson (rec coord/tight ends) from there and he seems like a real down-to-earth guy. He never tells me anything false and he speaks the truth. Maclin has been to JR Days at Missouri and Illinois.

"This summer I'm going to camps at Iowa and Illinois. I'd also like to take unofficial visits to Texas Tech and Colorado. My interest in CU is because we're good family friends with Bill Inge (assistant coach) there, so I've got to see what they're about.

"The earliest that I'm looking to make my commitment to a program would be late summer, but it all depends on how comfortable I feel with a program," he said.

"I know my forty time is pretty fast. With cleats on grass, I've been clocked by my coaches digitally as a 4.44 and with a laser at 4.45."

"I know that Nebraska (no offer) is looking at me as a DB, but all the other schools pretty much want me as a wide receiver. I prefer playing wide receiver," he said.

"I'm a smart, fast receiver and I catch the ball fairly well. I run good routes and I'm also good at making people miss me in the open field. I want to work on getting stronger, faster and more flexible, so that I can put my body in more difficult situations to make a play."

Final JR (10-2) stats: 55 catches/1200 yds/18 TDs; 22 carries/210 yds/2 TDs; 60 tackles/6 INTs; 2 KR TDs; Bench: 235/Squat 400
