Focus 2006: Stanley Havili Update

Stanley Havili is one of the best running backs in the western region. The Iowa Hawkeyes have targeted Havili as one of their top priorities for the class of 2006. Read the latest regarding to the recruitment of Tony Moeaki's cousin, who has an offer from Iowa.

Salt Lake City (Utah) running back Stanley Havili (6-1, 215, 4.55) now claims offers from Utah, BYU, Arizona, Arizona State, Vanderbilt, Nebraska, Hawaii, Boise State and Iowa. "I don't have a top five or a leader right now. I'm really interested in all of the schools that have offered me so far," said Havili, from Cottonwood High School. "By the end of the summer, I should have a legitimate top five.

"I like the in-state schools like BYU and Utah. Both of those programs have really good coaching staffs and I talk with both of them a lot. The facilities at both are pretty nice, but I'd like to get out there and see some other programs' facilities so that I could have something to compare them to. I grew up watching both programs and they're two great schools.

"I talk with the coaches at Iowa a lot. I'm really interested in their program. My cousin, Tony Moeaki (tight end), is going there. I would like to know how well I'd fit in, not just with my cousin there, but overall. I'm looking for a place where I'd fit in the best," he said.

"I don't know much about Nebraska or any of the other programs that have offered me really. I know that it's a great program and they're a winning school. It sounds like a great place to be.

"I want to go to a program with a great coaching staff--that's the key. I also want a great education that comes with the school. I want coaches that are going to tell me my weaknesses and help me with them, and I want to go to a program where I get along with the players.

"This summer I'm going to take unofficial visits to Nebraska, Washington, Arizona, Arizona State and Iowa. I want to take my time in making a decision on committing and do it closer to the end of the season," he said.

Havili has been to BYU's JR Day and was also at the combine in Los Angeles on May 14.

2.5 GPA/June 11 retest--"I want to get my score up on the ACT because I feel that I could do better on it. So far, I'm not fully qualified with my first score."
