Kirkwood wide receiver Jeremy Maclin made his first camp appearance this past Saturday at the University of Iowa where he caught the eye of the Hawkeye coaching staff.
"I'm supposed to give Iowa a call back on Tuesday to know where I stand on their board," said Maclin. "I thought I performed the best of any receiver there, and there wasn't really any defensive back I felt could contain me. Coach (Lester) Erb was very straightforward with me, and really wants me to use my hands better to get off defensive backs after making initial contact. I know I need to improve my flexibility, too, and I have a female friend who has offered to teach me some yoga."
Maclin, who has never been officially offered by the Hawkeyes, says Iowa is a school that will definitely make his final list if they indeed offer.
"I plan to cut my list down to around five schools at the end of the summer, and if Iowa offers, they will definitely be one of them. Iowa City is a beautiful place, and I liked all of the coaches there as they really know how to work and relate with the players," stated Maclin.
On Sunday afternoon, Maclin also made an appearance at the one day Missouri camp being held in St. Louis, although, he did not perform.
"There were over 300 kids there, and I saw a lot of my area buddies like Adrian Clayborn and Sergio Kahn. The Missouri coaches just told me that they want me badly, and they more than likely will be included in my top five, too, when the time comes," said Maclin.
