Illinois linebacker/running back Kevin Green (6-2, 200, 4.5) said he's received 13 offers, most recently from Iowa, West Virginia, Duke, Indiana and Kansas. "So far I've taken unofficial visits to Purdue, Iowa, Notre Dame, Northwestern and Illinois," said Green, from North Chicago Community High School.

"My top five schools are Purdue, Iowa, Minnesota, Notre Dame (no offer) and Georgia Tech (no offer). Purdue and Iowa are my leaders right now," he said.

"I really like the facilities at Purdue and they've got a great academic program there. They have good programs in engineering and computer graphics and that's what I'd like to major in. They've also got a good tradition of putting linebackers into the NFL.

"I was just at Iowa's camp on June 4 and they offered me right after that so I guess I did well there. The coaches there that I talked to are great and I feel that I've got a good connection going with all of them. They've also got a great academic system in place there. I was told that each player gets two tutors and if you miss class because of a game, they'll keep you up-to-date and tell you what you missed. I like how they base their program around the academics.

"I'm in contact with the coaches from both Notre Dame and Georgia Tech and I think they'll offer me during the season so that they can see how I perform. I know I want to get out to both of them for camps this summer as well as to Michigan State, Minnesota and Purdue," he said.

"I haven't planned it yet, but I'd like to get out to Duke for an official visit when I can.

"I'm not looking to make an early decision and I'll probably commit to a program after the season," he said.

"I'm also being recruited by some schools that have offered me as a running back. I prefer playing linebacker in college, but if I like a school that wants me as running back, then I'll play that," he said.

"On defense I'm a quick learner and a hard worker. I'm also very aggressive, make solid tackles and I'm quick to get to the ball. On offense I've got good speed and I make good cutbacks. I want to work on speed on offense this season, and on defense I want to get better in my drop-back coverage--especially against the tight ends out there."
