Ohio Prep "90 Percent" Iowa's Directions

Cleveland (Ohio) linebacker/strong safety Derrick Smith (6-0, 171, 4.55) still favors Iowa. "If I were to say what the chances are of me going to Iowa it would be at 90% right now," said Smith, from Glenville High School.

"They (Iowa) are just recruiting me the hardest out of any other program right now. I've still got some interest in other schools that have offered me, like Toledo and Eastern Michigan, but Iowa is my leader over all of them," he said.

"I really like the coaching staff and the players at Iowa. I like how the coaching staff has shown me how much they care about how you do in the classroom as well as on the field. I was there for camp this past summer and the area around the campus is a nice quiet place…a good new place for me and I'm willing to try that out.

"Toledo is also recruiting me pretty hard. My uncle, Tarvares Bolden, played there so I know a lot about the program and I'm cool with their coaches. They've got some great facilities and I think I'd like to get out there again and see them on an official visit.

"I like how the coaches at Eastern Michigan interact with the kids. They make the atmosphere there fun, but it's all about business as well," said Smith.

"I'd like to take three official visits to those schools and make a decision after I've seen them."
