Edds Still Likes Hawks and Boilers

Indiana linebacker/tight end A.J. Edds (6-4, 220, 4.6) has narrowed his focus to Iowa, Purdue and Georgia Tech. All have offered.

"Purdue and Iowa are definitely my top two teams with Georgia Tech in there as my outside third," said A.J. Edds, from Greenwood Community High School in Greenwood.

"Notre Dame and Ohio State are out of that list. I haven't received offers from them and I'm really not going to let anyone else jump in there either because it's just too far into this entire process to add any other schools.

"I'm most likely going to Purdue for an official visit in their game against Notre Dame (9/30), and I'm going to go to Iowa's game against Northern Iowa on September 17," he said. "That trip to Iowa is going to be an unofficial one. From what I've come to understand, the coaches at Iowa want players to take official visits there after their season is over so that they can stay focused and get to really understand the program on the official visit.

"I might also get out to Georgia Tech just to go see a game as well.

"But I'm thinking that after that trip to Purdue, I'm going to be ready to make a verbal commitment somewhere.

"Iowa really likes me as a tight end and Purdue and Georgia Tech really see me fitting in as an outside linebacker there. I don't really have a preference on either position," said Edds.

Last Friday (8/19), Greenwood Community lost their first game of the season to Columbus East 34-21. Edds had four catches for 38 yards, six solo tackles and 1 caused fumble.

They play their second game against Southport High School this Friday (8/26).
