Q: (On whether Drew Tate will be back soon)
Ed Hinkel: We're expecting him back on Wednesday. I'm expecting him to play.
Q: Is it important that he play?
Hinkel: Yeah, I think Jason did a great job when he was in there. He made some mistakes, but everybody was making mistakes. We just couldn't get any execution from anybody. I think Drew's our guy, he's our quarterback. If Jason's got to play, we're comfortable with him there.
Q: UNI's got a pretty wide open offense that scored a lot of points in their first two games. Do you guys think that this game could turn into a shootout?
Hinkel: I don't know, I don't know much about their offense. I know defensively they're tough. They're going to give us a lot of different looks, something we're really going to have to be ready for.
Q: It's been really since the trip to Arizona (State) that you've played a game like Saturday, how's that been sitting in your stomach?
Hinkel: It's tough. We've just got to move on, we've got to get back to work this week in practice, really buckle down and focus.
Q: How do you shake something like that?
Hinkel: You just got to kind of forget about it. Any time you lose a game, it's going to linger with you a little longer than what a win does. We just got to put it behind us and learn from the tape, just move on.
Q: Is it any kind of encouragement that you've had disappointing losses before but still gone on to have great seasons?
Hinkel: Yeah. Just because we've done it before doesn't mean we're going to do it this year. We've got to buckle down and practice hard and get back to work. If we can do that, things will take care of themselves, but we've got to take it one week at a time, get back to work.
Q: What is the team's reaction usually to these situations, you've seen it before?
Hinkel: For the most part, the team responds well to a bad loss, any loss. Just because we've done it before doesn't mean we're going to do it again, we really just have to focus and have a good week of practice.
Q: What didn't work with the passing game Saturday?
Hinkel: I don't think anything worked. I don't know, we couldn't get anything executed. We thought we were prepared and everything, we had a good week of practice I thought, we thought we were well prepared. We just didn't execute and they did a good job of stopping us. There wasn't much else we could do.
Q: What's the last time you were last frustrated?
Hinkel: I don't know. Probably in our last loss against Michigan, that was probably the time we were the most frustrated, we knew we had a chance to win it, things like that. We were never out of that game Saturday until late in the fourth quarter. Probably Michigan was the last time I was that frustrated.
