Arvell Nelson Still Favors Iowa

Glennville, Ohio signal caller places Iowa atop his list

Ohio quarterback Arvell Nelson (6-4, 175, 4.7) claims 18 total offers. He hasn't set up any official visits.

"I would say Iowa, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Syracuse and Eastern Michigan are my top choices right now in that order (all offered)," said Nelson, of Glenville High School in Cleveland. "Iowa just barely tips the scales as my top choice.

"I like the coaching staff at Iowa. I am real familiar with the team and I like their style of play. Their number one and two quarterbacks are juniors right now, so I could play at the school relatively early.

"Wisconsin is on my list because one of my school's top receivers, Daven Jones, has committed there and I would be able to play early there too.

"I like the atmosphere at North Carolina, and at Syracuse and the others as well… basically all of the schools offer my major, and that's why they are in my top five. I am looking at majoring in Sports & Leisure or Sports Management, so I have to be selective," he said. "I would like to be a sports agent when I graduate."

Nelson continues to throws Ohio State into the mix as well. "They have been recruiting me, but haven't offered. They offered to a kid from Georgia for quarterback (Antonio Henton--who is committed to the Buckeyes), so their indication to me is that if he doesn't accept, that the offer could go to me," Nelson said.

"If that were to happen they would probably be at the top of my list. It's close to home and I grew up watching them. I am close with (head) coach (Jim) Tressel and with a lot of the coaching staff."

Nelson reports throwing for 1,300 yards with 17 touchdowns and only two interceptions. Glenville (7-0) plays Rhodes for Homecoming on Oct. 14.
