One of the great old golf courses in Iowa will be the site of this year's Polk County Celebrity Golf Tournament and Dinner. The Wakonda Club will host the event on Monday, June 24th. Registration and practice range activities will begin at 10:00 a.m. Lunch will be served at 11:30 followed by a shotgun start at 12:45.
The format of the tournament is a five person best shot. One Iowa Hawkeye celebrity will be in each group. There will be only 22 foursomes. Cost is $1,000 per foursome or $250 per participant. The entry fee includes lunch, golf, carts, practice balls, tee and tournament prizes and dinner. Since this is a charity event, a portion of the cost will be tax deductible.
Hawkeye celebrities will probably include the following: Steve Alford, Kirk Ferentz, Bob Bowlsby, Norm Parker and other staff members. Current U of I golfers and former Hawks like Chuck Hartlieb and Marv Cook. Kirk Ferentz will speak at the dinner.
There are very few slots left so make arrangements today if you want to play by calling Jim Carney at 515-282-6803. All Hawkeye fans are welcome, you do not need to be an I-Club member to attend.
The cocktail hour will begin at 6 p.m. followed by the golf awards and dinner. In addition a silent auction will be conducted for many fine prizes.
Dinner only tickets are available at $50. However, due to capacity constraints, only 100 of these are available.
In case of a rainout, the dinner will be held and the golf portion of your entry fee will be refunded.
