Crabtree Visits KU; Ferentz Visits Crabtree

While many prospects had already taken their first few official visits heading into last weekend, Dallas Carter's Michael Crabtree made his first official visit to the University of Kansas.

"The visit was pretty tight," said Michael Crabtree, a quarterback who is projected to play wide receiver on the collegiate level. "I would play receiver there, and they threw the ball a lot. They just won their bowl game, and they are losing their top two receivers to graduation and the NFL Draft. I'd have a chance to contribute early."

Crabtree spent most of his time in Lawrence with Jayhawk wide receiver Coach Tim Beck.

"Coach Beck was a cool, nice coach. We spent some time watching film of how they use their receivers, and I like the fact they give them choices at the line of scrimmage. You have decisions to make based on how the corner is playing you," Crabtree stated.

While he enjoyed his visit to Lawrence, Crabtree would like to take at least two more visits before making his decision.

"I know schools are running out of scholarships so I need to decide soon, but I want to at least have a few options to look over," Crabtree said.

"I'm visiting Texas Tech this upcoming weekend. I really like Coach (Sonny) Dykes, and I've spoken with Coach (Mike) Leach a few times. I'm deciding between Iowa and Illinois on where I'll visit on the weekend of the 20th. Iowa sent their head coach (Kirk Ferentz) on an in-home visit to my place last week. I'm also considering possibly making a visit to Baylor. They also want me to play hoops, and would like for me to come over when their basketball team goes up against Texas. I've narrowed my list down to those schools."
