Doug Thomas

(Fans chant "Thunder Doug") First of all, I want to thank God for letting me be a Hawkeye. I been through a lot, high school to high school, to junior college, now Iowa. I want to thank Coach Alford for telling me, "If you tell me you'll come to Iowa, I'll save you a scholarship." And he did that. I just want to take the opportunity to thank Coach Alford.

I want to thank my Dad, my Grandma for coming to Iowa City all the way from Pasadena, California. I want to thank everybody that put up with my mess every day. It was well worth it, I came to Iowa, went undefeated at home. We're going to the Big Ten Tournament, hopefully we can bring the [banner] back. I love Coach for opening your arms and coaching me, Coach Alford, everyone's been hard on me to keep working. They say if they don't yell at you, they don't care about you.

(Doug thanks all his teammates)

Last but not least, I want to thank the Student Section. I hope to see you all at the Big Ten Tournament.
