Bulaga, who has received offers from Michigan State and Northern Illinois, could potentially receive a Hawkeye offer in the future.
"Iowa told me they want me to come out to a couple spring practices, and attend a day of their summer camp," Bulaga stated.
"They really wanted to get to know me better, and told me they were recruiting me as an offensive lineman. They saw film of me blocking at tight end and really felt I could move my feet and blocked well. Coach (Lester) Erb told me he liked my size, my feet, my agility, the fact he felt I had a football mentality, and that I have good character."
Bulaga has also attended Junior Days at Indian, Purdue, and Northern Illinois, in addition to making an unofficial visit to Michigan State where he was given an individual tour of the campus.
"I'm wide open right now, but the four schools that seem to be pressing the most on me, and that have my interest are Purdue, Michigan State, Northern Illinois, and Iowa," Bulaga said.
Bulaga gave a quick rundown of all four schools.
Michigan State: "Coach (Chuck) Driesbach took my father and I around a tour. We toured their criminal justice department, and I had a meeting with an academic advisor. After, we had a meet with John L. Smith, and that was pretty awesome. Five or six days later, Coach Driesbach sent me an offer in writing."
Northeren Illinois: "I took a visit there last weekend, and they told me I was the first prospect they were offering there. They like me at tight end, but said that I could potentially move to the offensive line, as well. It is close to home, is a good program, and I really believe Coach (Joe) Novak is a great coach. I also have a great relationship with Coach (Mike) Sabock."
Purdue: "I've actually visited there twice. I attended their football game against Illinois and attended their Junior Day. I really only got a chance to talk with Coach (Mark) Hagan, and I didn't get much of a chance to speak with the rest of the staff. He wants me to come back up there again, and have a meeting with Coach Tiller, a few other coaches, and he."
Iowa: "It is a great campus at Iowa, and a real fun atmosphere to be around. It is very homey there and I definitely could see myself playing there. I'd have no problem playing offensive line at Iowa."
Bulaga also reports he has received recent interest from Stanford.
In nine games this fall, Bulaga recorded 90 tackles (16 for loss) and four sacks. At tight end, he recorded 11 receptions for 185 yards and one touchdown.
"I'd like to have my decision made by the start of my season, but if I'm not ready, then I will not force anything," added Bulaga, who holds a 3.0 GPA. "I'd like to play it out by ear. I want a place with good academics and athletics, good campus size and location, and to play for a coaching staff that I know will develop me."
Bulaga is scheduled to be a participant in the Scout.com All-American Combine in Iowa City, Iowa (University of Iowa) on April 22nd.
