Iowa football coach Kirk Ferentz said Thursday that running back Siaka Massaquoi has been dismissed from the team and that a promising freshman wide receiver is transferring to another school.
The freshman is Darius Butler, a 6-foot 1-inch, 190-pounder from Plantation, Fla., who was redshirted last season. Butler said he will transfer to Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Ga.
Ferentz said Massaquoi's dismissal from the squad is effective immediately and is the result of conduct detrimental to the team. The 5-11, 200-pound senior will remain on scholarship and plans to graduate in December.
Massaquoi ran for 48 yards in 12 carries and scored two touchdowns in Iowa's 7-5 season last year.
More games have been added to Iowa's television schedule.
The school announced that the Oct. 5 homecoming game against Purdue and road games at Indiana and Michigan have been assigned 11:10 a.m. (Iowa time) kickoffs by the Big Ten Conference.
In addition, the Big Ten confirmed that all three games will be televised on either ESPN, ESPN2 or on the Big Ten's regional TV network.
School officials say there is a chance that all 12 of Iowa's games will be televised.
