Iowa Prep OL Will Attend Combine

Ottumwa, Iowa offensive lineman Mitch Hauk will be a participant in the All-American Combine in Iowa City, Iowa on April 22nd. Hauk is an intriguing offensive line prospect in the state of Iowa in 2006. As a junior, he saw only limited time at offensive tackle as a reserve. He started at defensive end, and later in the season, at defensive tackle. Hauk will be a full-time starter on both sides of the ball in 2006.

Still, Mitch Hauk has managed to attract the interest of both Iowa and Iowa State, in addition, to interest from the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Hauk has taken unofficial visits to each program, and offered his thoughts on each.

"I've grown up a Hawkeye fan," Hauk told "I had gone to a Junior Day visit to Iowa back in early February, and checked out one of their spring practices on March 24th. Coach (Reese) Morgan told me he liked my size, but told me I need to develop more of a mean streak. I'm going to attend their one day elite camp, and their regular camp."

"Coach (Chris) Ash from Iowa State text messages me a lot. He is from Ottumwa, himself, and told me he wants to get another Ottumwa guy on their roster. I'm going to attend their spring game this Saturday, and at least one day of their camp. Their coaches are real nice guys."

"I attended Nebraska's Junior Day on April 1st, and it is a real nice school. They have awesome fan support, and definitely gave me something to consider outside the state of Iowa. Coach (Dennis) Wagner told me he is from Iowa. He said he saw some clips of me, and wanted me to send him my highlight film and transcripts. He asked me to attend one day of their camp, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to."

Hauk recently received a questionnaire from the Missouri Tigers, as well.

Hauk throws the shot put and discus in track; 2006 being his first season ever. He has a personal best, thus far, of 45' and 135', respectively.

Hauk will be joined by his teammate, defensive back Jon Rusch, at the All-American Combine on the 22nd.
