LB Chris Colasanti Talks Iowa Visit

One of the midwest's premier prospects, linebacker Chris Colasanti, spent nearly the entire day with the Iowa Hawkeye coaching staff on an unofficial visit this past Friday. Colasanti gave the visit rave reviews in his conversation with's Josh Clark, who offers this exclusive report to all Hawkeye fans......

"I went out to Iowa City last Friday for a visit," Colasanti told "I really liked it, honestly. Iowa really moved up my list from the visit. Before I went out there, when I would say Iowa to myself, I didn't expect much or to like it very much. It really surprised me how much I did like everything while I was out there."

A large reason the visit went so successful, according to Colasanti, was the interaction he had with the Hawkeye coaching staff.

"My father and I spoke to Coach (Kirk) Ferentz for probably about an hour, and then we followed it up with meetings with their defensive coordinator, Coach (Norm) Parker, and their strength coach, (Chris) Doyle. A lot of visits I've taken, the coaches simply just say hello, but each one of the Iowa coaches took the time to have an in-depth conversation with me. I really got the chance to know their feelings," Colasanti explained.

Colasanti will head to Happy Valley this weekend for an unofficial visit.

"I haven't been to Penn State for two years, so I'm really looking forward to getting re-accquinated with everything. They are definitely one of my favorites, right now. I just have some questions I need to get answered, and I'm looking forward to talking with Coach (Joe) Paterno and Coach (Ron) Vanderlinden," Colasanti stated.

Colasanti noted he hopes to make his decision sometime during the summer, but won't feel pressured to do if he isn't ready.

One thing in his favor is that he does know what schools are at the top of his list, currently.

"My favorites, right now, are Penn State, Iowa, Ohio State, Michigan State, and UCLA," added Colasanti, who recorded 153 tackles, four sacks and an interception as a junior. "Ohio State has had all those great linebackers, and they have such great tradition. Coach (Chris) Smeland at Michigan State was the first to offer me, and we have such a great relationship. I really like Coach (Chuck) Bullough at UCLA. He went there from Western Michigan, so I've known him for a while."

Colasanti has no visits planned after his return from Happy Valley.
