Ferentz Offers Illinois Linebacker

Kevin Rouse, a 6-foot, 220-pound, linebacker, from Joliet (Ill.) Catholic, is one of the hottest prospects in the Midwest. Rouse had a super showing at the Scout.com All-American combine in Iowa City and lucky for him that the Iowa coaching staff just happened to be in attendance. Hawkeye coach Kirk Ferentz and assistant coach Lester Erb visited Rouse today in Joliet.

"I saw both Coach Ferentz and Coach Erb in school today," Kevin Rouse said.

"I wasn't able to talk to them but it was really nice having the head coach from Iowa coming in to see me.

"After school, I received a text message from Coach Erb asking me to call him. When I called Coach Erb, he put me on the phone with Coach Ferentz and that's when he offered me a scholarship.

"I'm really happy. Iowa is a great school, with great coaches and a great program. I put Iowa up their in the top tier of the Big Ten. Iowa is right up there with Ohio State and Michigan in my opinion."

Rouse is an outstanding linebacker that in my opinion, is as good as any linebacker to come out of Joliet Catholic. That's a list that includes Mike Goolsby (Notre Dame) and Chris Jeske (Northwestern).

Rouse is relentless on the football field, he had 90 tackles and 25 tackles for loss as a junior. Kevin stepped up to the plate after the season by attending the U.S. Army National combine in San Antonio, where he ran a 4.6 forty yard dash and he followed that up by running a 4.58 at Iowa on April 22nd.

Rouse now has nine scholarship offers. Which schools are at the top of his wish list?

"Iowa, Northwestern, Minnesota, North Carolina State, Kansas, Iowa State and Ole Miss are my favorites." Rouse said.

"What I plan to do now is narrow my list to five at the end of May and I'll take some visits during the summer. Hopefully, I can narrow things down further from there."
