"My number two choice is Louisville. I could play early there, maybe right away. They are losing a lot of guys to graduation. I don't want to be in a situation where I'm behind a bunch of running backs right away. That doesn't mean I'm afraid to compete.
"Tennessee is only number three because I haven't been there yet," he said. "My mom and I will be driving out there during the first week of August. That's about an eight hour drive. Iowa is the closest, about three and a half hours away. My mom is hoping I go to a place close to home, so my parents can see my games.
"Wisconsin and Minnesota are the other schools I am the most interested in. I would say Minnesota is recruiting me the hardest. They send me the most stuff. I like that Minnesota sends a lot of players into the NFL.
"If I got an offer from Texas, that would be big. They are my childhood favorite and my grandmother lives in Dallas. I don't really see it happening though. They recruit mostly from in-state and are already loaded at running back.
"I'd like to get this recruiting done early," Martin said. "It's a big hassle and I don't want to be dealing with it when the season is going on. So, I'd like to decide before August 25, when my season starts.
"It might be possible for me to graduate early. It'll depend if I go to summer school or not. I'll have no problem qualifying though."
Martin bench presses 240, squats 535 and claims to have a vertical jump of 34 inches. "I've been in the weight room a lot lately, building my upper body strength."
Junior season stats: 120 carries/1100 yards rushing/11 TDs.
"I'm only being recruited as a running back. My strengths are my vision and my speed. I need to work on my upper body strength."
Martin reports a 2.6 core GPA and will take the ACT on June 6.
