Josh Brent Talks Iowa Camp

Bloomington, Illinois (Central Catholic) defensive tackle Josh Brent attended his first camp this past Saturday at the University of Iowa. It was his second visit to Iowa City, and according to Brent, his visit went well.

"It was a good way for me to start off the summer," Josh Brent told

"I have a better overall impression of Iowa after attending the camp. It gave me the chance to see the type of, not only athletes, but high character guys that they recruit to be a part of their program."

It is not hard to envision to think that Brent would have been one of the top overall performers at the camp.

Brent is too humble to make that comment, but did inform as to the feedback he received from the Iowa coaches.

"Both Coach (Ron) Aiken and the defensive coordinator told me that they definitely can see me playing at Iowa," added Brent, who attended Illinois's camp last week, but did not participate.

"When I spoke with Coach Ferentz, he told me he was ready for me to commit to them at any point now, but he also understood that I want to take my official visits first. The coaches liked my explosion off the line, and the fact that really I was never pushed back by an offensive lineman."

Brent also noted he had learned some new techniques at the camp, as well.

"Coach Aiken really worked me with on some new moves to use during pass rush, and different technique to use when going against the run. I definitely walked away having learned something," Brent stated.

Brent will be at Michigan's camp today, and then plans to attend Michigan State's camp tomorrow. Later this weekend, he'll finalize his camp appearances by attending Ohio State.

Brent also received a recent offer from the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

"Nebraska offered me last week. Coach (Kevin) Cosgrove told me he had the chance to see my highlight video and spoke with people at my school, and knew that he wanted me a part of the program. I have to talk with their coaches more, and do some more research before I can really have an opinion on Nebraska," Brent said.

Brent noted that he plans to narrow his list right before the start of his senior season.
