Q: I was talking to Damian (Sims) and he was talking about how he and Albert run the same way, but you're a little different. What do you bring to the table that you don't see in the other backs?
Shonn Greene: I don't know if it's that they don't have it, but I bring a little more of the power running game, smash-mouth, if you will. More of the power running game. I think we all can pretty much get the job done, at the same time. They're the slashers, I'm the power back, I guess you could say?
Q: If you were to compare yourself to an NFL back, who would it be?
Greene: That's a nice question.
Q: Current or former, I guess.
Greene: I would go with Shaun Alexander.
Q: One of the things he does is catch a lot of balls out of the backfield, is that something you look to do more of this year?
Greene: Yeah, absolutely. I look to catch way more out of the backfield. It just so happened that way. We have a lot of plays where I do catch the ball out of the backfield, it's just a matter of what the situation is on the field. That's a possibility.
Q: Obviously you've got 3 backs that have the potential to be a #1 in a lot of systems.
Q: Where are the carries going to come from? Are you going to run the ball 60 times a game? Is that where it's coming from?
Greene: Right now, nobody knows that. We're just focusing on being a better football team and being aggressive and playing the best football you can. I don't think that's on the mind of everybody.
Q: When you were out east working to get grades up to get in, does it finally feel like it's paid off?
Greene: Absolutely. Being in this crowd in Iowa, it's lovely. It's a lot of good people, great coaches, the staff is great, everybody's great. I think it paid off a lot, setting myself up around successful people.
Q: What do you think of the offensive line ahead of you? They really worked well at the end of the season, now they've got a few new guys coming in.
Greene: It's a good group. Everybody on the team has work to do, starting from the o-line down to whoever. Everybody has work to do, but I think they're holding on, it's a good group, they'll be alright.
Q: If everybody has work to do, what do you have to do?
Greene: Just do everything I could possibly do. Work on everything, the passing game, blocking, everything. I need to work on everything. Everybody has work to do.
Q: You've had a chance to look at some of the young guys, Dana Brown got a lot of work in spring ball. What do you think about the young running backs and the young receivers that are coming in?
Greene: I think they're going to be good. Only sky's the limit for them. I think the coaches do a great job of coaching us up on what we need to get done, so. Dana, all the young guys, everybody's coming along well. We're just working hard out here to be the best we can be.
Q: Has there been any talk about return teams this year? You have a lot of guys that could do that job.
Greene: We've got a lot of guys, I think it's wide open right now, nobody really knows. I think we're going to see what happens and let it fall in place.
