Martin Updates Favorites

4-star RB Dale Martin out of Bollingbrook HS in Bollingbrook, Ill. has updated and trimmed his list of favorites to 4. He also talks about a timetable for his decision. Read more in this recruiting update.

Dale Martin (5-11, 195, 4.5) from Bollingbrook, Ill. has updated and re-ordered his list of favorites. He now reports that Tennessee has a slight lead over Wisconsin, Iowa, and North Carolina State.

"I went down there, I could see playing there, they've got a lot of running backs, good players, they put players in the NFL," Martin said of Tennessee. "I like all the coaches, the facilities. The big stadium's cool too."

Other schools are still plenty in the running, however, as Martin says he wants to give everyone a chance.

NC State, a recent addition to Martin's list, made a big impact when he visited them in early August.

"I've got an Uncle that's from down there. I kind of wanted to go and play in warm weather," Martin said. "If I did go somewhere far away, at least I know someone down there. They really impressed me, it was better than what I thought it was going to be. Just with the facilities and the coaches, they're nice and stuff. I could see playing there."

Iowa is a school Martin is quite familiar with, living only hours from the campus.

"I've been going there for a long time since my freshman year," Martin said. "They've recruited other players from my team, I know a lot about them. I've talked to the coaches for so long, I know them well. I think if I went there I'd have a chance to play early because they don't have a lot of running backs."

Wisconsin entered the picture with Martin based mostly on Coach Randall McCray, who was previous at Toledo.

"Coach McCray was really the only reason I started looking at them, after he moved from Toledo," Martin said. "Coach Settle, the running back coach, I really liked him, he really impressed me showing what he wants and what he expects from his running backs."

Martin had wanted to have his decision made before his birthday in September, but he said that doesn't seem too likely right now, as his team has just started two-a-day practices for the fall.

"I will sit down with my coach and my mom. I wanted to get it done, but I don't think it will be. I'm just going to look at everything and try and go from there."

Martin said he plans to take a few official visits before making his decision, possibly after the season. He said he hasn't had a chance to schedule any official visits yet, but will look at his team's schedule soon.
