"ISB&T is happy to support a program that adds to the fun of reading," said Nick Pfeiffer, ISB&T marketing officer. "The First & Ten reading program is a great way for parents to talk to their students about the books they are reading and the students get rewarded for it."
The program will run September 1 through October 1. The objective of the program is to encourage students to read three chapter books at their reading level during that time frame. Each student will be supplied a replica scorecard football field to record each book read along with a questionare for the three books to be filled out. The program is honor system based and developed to encourage literacy, parent participation and celebrate the beginning of the 2006 Hawkeye football season.
Upon completion of the three books, entry forms should be returned to any ISB&T location by October 3. Students who turn their completed materials back in will be recognized at a ceremony to be held October 19, 6:30pm at a site to be determined at Kinnick Stadium or Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Each student who reads three books and fills out their questionare will receive a First & Ten Reading Program T-shirt, a certificate of completion, as well as a free kids meal gift certificate provided by Outback Steakhouse in Coralville.
"On behalf of the HawkeyeNation staff, I am excited about implementing this program in the area. Iowa State Bank & Trust Company and Outback Steakhouse are great organizations and supporters of the community. These organizations should be commended for positively impacting the young students in the area," said Marty Millard, Advertising Director for HawkeyeNation.com.
