Montana Postgame: Rafael Eubanks

Rafael Eubanks spoke with the media on Saturday. Read what Iowa's new center had to say about his first college start, the speed of the game, improvements they need to make, and more in this premium transcript.

Q: First game as a college football player, talk about it.

Rafael Eubanks: It's definitely very exciting, a great experience. Nervous, very nervous coming into it. Like I said earlier in the week. Once I got out there, saw the tempo, see what it's really like, I felt more comfortable. I was just out there playing football.

Q: What were some of the big things you noticed?

Eubanks: Obviously things are a lot quicker, a lot more responsibility. You've got to stay on your blocks really hard, they'll come off.

Q: Definitely a difference in not only the speed, but the strength of the players you're against?

Eubanks: Yeah, definitely. Strength is a big thing. I'm a lot more comfortable now. I'm excited for this season, ready to hit the road.

Q: The offense put up 420 yards, something like that. That's got to make you pretty excited.

Eubanks: Yeah, it's exciting any time you can put up those kind of numbers, you know you're doing something right. At the same time, it's the first game. We've got a lot to work on as a group and as a team. The offensive line, we've got a lot to work on still, but we're looking forward to what we can accomplish.

Q: Pretty confident that this line is going to gel?

Eubanks: Definitely. I think we're getting along very well. Today was kind of the first test, and I think we did pretty well.

Q: What did the coaches tell you after the game?

Eubanks: They're excited. Any time you can come out in the first game like we did today, do some good things, there's going to be some excitement. Now we just come back tomorrow, watch the film, and that's when corrections will be made.

Q: Did your folks come down from Minnesota?

Eubanks: Of course they did. I'm sure they were just as nervous as I was.

Q: Speaking with your dad, I'm sure he'll tell you some things?

Eubanks: Definitely. He's always got an eye out there, I'm sure there's something that caught his eye that I did that he'll let me know about. Any help I can get, any set of eyes, I'll take.
