Q: Did the students give you any grief down there, make fun, have fun?
Herb Grigsby: I met a couple people. I've got a couple new friends. It was OK.
Q: But frustrating, I suppose?
Grigsby: Yes, very frustrating.
Q: What was that perspective like?
Grigsby: You sit there, you want to do something, but you can't. The team came out, they performed well, got the win, that's the biggest thing.
Q: Coach says the punishment's over, we move on. Is that the way you see it too, at this point?
Grigsby: Yes. What happened, happened. The punishment's been taken care of and now it's time to move on, forward to the next game.
Q: Kenny talked about not taking things for granted after this. How is it going to change you going forward?
Grigsby: I think that's a good point. You don't want to take anything for granted. You can see how fast something can turn into something negative. I'm just happy to be back on the field, can't wait to get on the field.
Q: There's a lot of talk about the young receivers now, after Saturday. Are you looking forward to getting out there and proving there's some old guys that can do it too?
Grigsby: The young guys, we've been saying it all camp long. They're impressive. They came out and showed they could get it done. Just to get out there and be on the same field, that's the biggest thing I'm looking forward to.
Q: What are some of the challenges of playing the first road game of the year?
Grigsby: Road games, it's always big to win on the road. You've got to win on the road if you want to win championships. That's the goal here, to win championships. We've got to go out there, the first road win, it's going to be a tough environment, we've got to go out there and play tough Iowa football.
Q: Are you surprised Coach has decided not to put you guys in the bubble at all, to prepare for hot and humid conditions in a dome with no A/C?
Grigsby: I'm pretty sure we'll probably get in there some day this week, but like you said, you've got the conditions. We're going to play in different conditions every week. As far as where we're at or where we're practicing, I don't think it's going to be that big of an effect on the team.
Q: Will you guys bring up the words "Iowa State" this week, trying not to look past, are you guys beyond that, or do you talk to each other and say, "That's something we can't do."
Grigsby: I think all the guys know to focus going into each week and respecting each opponent, no matter who it. College football, any Saturday, someone could easily lose to another team. We can't look past that, we can't afford that, we've just got to be ready for Syracuse.
Q: Coming off that, they were just 1-10 last year. How hard is it to overlook that record and see a totally different year, a totally different team?
Grigsby: Last year was a rebuilding year, they had a new coaching staff. Any time you get a new coaching staff there's going to be a tough year. Now, this year, they have a little more experience, they had a tough loss last week. They're going to come out and want to avenge that with a good home win.
