Richard White Jr has added another offer to his list, and set forward a Top 3. The 5-8 185-pound RB from Hammonton, NJ recently received an offer from Villanova, bringing his total to 6. He previously had offers from Cincinnati, Delaware, Iowa, Northwestern, Purdue, and Massachusetts.
White says, in order, his favorites at Iowa, Northwestern, and Penn State.
White said he hopes to take official visits to those three schools along with Maryland. He also said he wants to make an official visit Iowa the weekend of October 7th, when Iowa plays Purdue on homecoming.
"They were the first school to give me a full scholarship from the Big Ten," White said. "The coach I talked to, Darrell Wilson. I met him in the spring and we just clicked from the beginning. He's from New Jersey also.
"They have two running backs from New Jersey, I think that is kind of rare. The style of offense they run, it really exploits how the backs run. I really think I can learn a lot from the running backs that are there. They have Albert Young and Shonn Greene, they were really good backs in High School, and I really think I could learn a lot from them my freshman year."
Until recently, Iowa was the only school recruiting White as a defensive back. That changed recently with a call from the Iowa coaches.
"He called me two weeks ago, and said they made the adjustment and they want me at RB, and I was still their top prospect," White said. "I was very excited."
White's parents have been making sure White takes care of his academics as well, which has brought Northwestern into the picture.
"They're a great academic school, they have the top graduation rate in the country," White said. "My parents have always stressed academics first. I talked to the coach, he was a really nice coach.
"He said if I had the ability to play at the collegiate level, I could come and play right away at RB. Their style of offense really shows the running back and his abilities. It really got me interested in them."
White said he hopes to have his decision by the end of the season, but won't rush into a college choice.
"I want to make at least 3 official visits," White said. "I don't want to just go to one college, see the school, and make the assumption that's the school I want to go. I want to make sure I'm sure, I want to make sure my parents are sure."
