The Michigan defense line looks to be one of the better ones that you have faced.
Yeah, I saw a bit of film on them. They're a big group. They play well together. They play hard. It's going to be a great challenge for us.
Who have been the best defensive lines you've played?
It's tough to say without playing Michigan's defense as of yet. I know they're going to be tough. I know Ohio State's defensive line was very tough. It will be easier to rank once the season is over, but I know Michigan is going to be way up there.
They have an incredible amount of sacks. What does that stat tell you?
It's great for a defense to have that many sacks. It just makes it even a greater challenge for us. We've got to go in and protect Drew knowing that they're good at getting to the quarterback.
Coach Ferentz said that you guys didn't play well enough in any phase of the game to win last week. What is the feeling with the guys in the locker room/ Are you guys really disappointed with what happened in Bloomington?
Absolutely. We didn't come out and play Iowa football. That's kind of the responsibility as our senior class, as leaders, to make sure that our team comes out and does that. It was a disappointing loss, but we've got to flush it, learn from it and move forward.
How does a loss like that affect things coming into a week where you have to do to Michigan? Does it make it tougher or does it have a rallying effect?
We start practice today (Tuesday), and hopefully it motivates us because that wasn't us out there last week. We're playing Michigan. We've got to be ready to go.
Even if it wasn't Michigan, do you have something to prove Saturday?
We've always got something to prove. Michigan is a great outfit. Coming off of a loss, you've got to respond to that adversity.
How is this team mentally right now?
Last week was disappointing for us. Mentally, we've just got to keep going. We can't dwell on what happened last week. We've just got to keep going forward.
Can you explain why you guys came out flat Saturday?
No, I don't know. It's just something I hope never happens again. It's kind of our fault as seniors. It's something that better not happen again.
