This was the scene for Kirk Ferentz's first ever bowl game as Iowa's head coach, the thrilling 19-16 victory over Texas Tech in 2001. That game was one of the best attended and most watched Alamo Bowls in history. The Hawkeyes beat the Red Raiders in the 1996 Alamo Bowl, in addition to playing in the inaugural Alamo Bowl game.
This year, the Hawkeyes will face the Texas Longhorns, who happen to be the defending national champions.
HawkeyeNation.com will be taking its fifth consecutive Bowl Charter Trip to Iowa's bowl destination. We are your proven and trusted travel partners, and will once again be teaming with Premiere Sports Travel.
For more information about our trip, including pricing and online ordering, CLICK HERE. Phone orders can be placed by calling 800.924.9993.
Our hotel for this year's bowl game will be the Hilton Palacio del Rio, situated right on the famed River Walk. CLICK HERE for hotel information, as well as a tour of the property.
The property is directly across the street from the Convention Center where the Hawkeye Huddle will likely take place, in addition to being across the street from the team hotel and Rivercenter Mall. The Alamodome is an easy walk from the hotel, less than a mile, but bus accommodations will be available too and from the event, in addition to taking you from the tarmac to the hotel and back again.
It's better than first class flying on our own private Hawkeye jet line!
Space has always been limited for our bowl trips as they have been quite popular, so do not delay in getting on board. This flight will leave Des Moines International, and is the only available charter flight available for Hawkeye fans.
We hope that you choose to travel with us, as we enjoy seeing so many familiar and new faces each and every year on our charter flights. Premiere Sports Travel has become a part of the Hawkeye family, and it should be another great trip!
