Bryan Bulaga made his way to Iowa City for an official visit, more than 6 months after he made his verbal commitment in May. The city hasn't changed much since his unofficial visits earlier this year.
"I had never had a chance to actually go out into Iowa City and experience life in it," Bulaga said. "On my official, I did that and it was absolutely awesome. The people are great, the atmosphere of Iowa City is great. That was something new I experienced and I absolutely loved it."
While in Iowa City, Bulaga attended the Iowa/Iowa State basketball game, which the Hawkeyes won 77-59. The following evening, he attended the Iowa football awards banquet, where the staff recognizes individuals for their on and off the field performances during the season.
"The basketball game was fun," Bulaga said. "It was good to see Iowa beat up on Iowa State, that's always a good thing.
"The banquet was good, to honor the guys who have played a good season, and honor the seniors who've been to all those bowl games and helped this program out. It's good to see them get honored for it."
"Obviously the younger guys are stepping up in the program, that shows signs that not only are the upperclassmen expected to contribute, but so are the younger guys," Bulaga said. "In practice, on scout teams, all that stuff. It's good to see the younger guys participating and contributing."
Bulaga said he plans on moving to Iowa City in June of 2007 to begin working out for his freshman season, and has already talked with Rafael Eubanks about staying with him during the summer.
Bulaga is a 4-star OL prospect out of Marian Central Catholic high school. He took an unofficial visit to Iowa City in March before making a verbal commitment in May.
