Wilson will be visiting Iowa on January 19th, and taking a trip to Lawrence, Kansas to visit the Jayhawks on January 26th. Neither school has offered, but Wilson says both coaching staffs have told him an offer will be extended to him while on his official visit.
Wilson said he has always had interest in the Kansas program, and that he likes the way they play football. Iowa's draw is the ability to be a playmaker.
"They like to throw the ball, and they're looking for a playmaker at the receiver spot," Wilson said. "They're open, they're looking for receivers... They're the frontrunner right now. I like Iowa a lot."
At the Scout.com Combine in Waco, Texas this year, Wilson ran a 4.78 40-yard dash. Both Wilson and his coach say that time has improved. Wilson was in the middle of basketball season at the Scout.com combine, and says he wasn't in the best of shape going in.
Wilson said that if he had performed better at the Scout.com Combine, he may have seen more interest earlier in his high school career. The Iowa staff, however, can see past a 40-time.
"They look at the tape, they're real interested," Wilson said of the Hawkeye recruiters. "They don't go by what the paper says or anything, they find their own players."
We'll check back in with Wilson next week after his visit to Iowa City to see how it went.
