Sean Fisher, a 6-5, 210 pound safety out of Millard North HS in Omaha, Neb. was in Iowa City this weekend along with plenty other junior recruits, finding out more about the Hawkeye program.
"We went to watch practice, then we got a chance to watch meetings in the afternoon," Fisher said. "Then later we had lunch, got to talk with the coaches. That was good."
Fisher, who plays mostly safety on his high school team, is being recruited as a linebacker, mainly because of his size potential, and that's where he was put this weekend, watching position meetings with the other Iowa linebackers.
"I think that's kind of becoming the consensus as to where I'll end up," Fisher said. "I'm leaning toward linebacker right now, it'll be a little better fit for me. I still weigh about 210, but with summer, we'll be training pretty hard. I wouldn't mind putting on a little more weight for next season."
While in Iowa City, Fisher got a chance to catch up with another Millard North safety-turned-linebacker, Jeff Tarpinian.
"I got a chance to see Jeff Tarpinian, who went to Millard North also," he said. "He was with some of his friends. I went out and got a bite to eat with them, then hung out with them in the dorms. That was nice to get a chance to talk with all those kids."
Fisher's high school is on spring break next week, so he plans on visiting Kansas and Kansas State during the week. We'll check in with Sean throughout the spring and summer as he prepares for his senior season.
