Q: How's the injury rehab going?
Jeff Tarpinian: I'm about 4 months after surgery. I had surgery, missed all spring ball. I've got to talk with the doc this week, but it's looking 5-6 months.
Q: That's it?
Tarpinian: Hopefully, yes. Hopefully pretty soon I'll be healthy. That would be a huge deal. I'd love to get in there and help the team out, get a chance to be a positive contributor.
Q: Is it going to be something that "when it's healed, it's healed"?
Tarpinian: Yeah. It should be stronger than ever, hopefully, so I can start getting in there to be part of the team.
Q: What is your participation in the workouts, are you just walking, doing PT?
Tarpinian: For practice-wise, I've been wearing a red jersey, which means I can run through everything, just no contact, which is unfortunate. It's nice to be out there just helping everyone, being a part of the team. 7-on-7, I still get to do that, it's nice.
Q: Who are some of the guys you looked up to and learned from?
Tarpinian: Klink and Hump are just great guys. You can make a tape of them and it's picture-perfect. Everything they do, how they train, how they work out, they run through every drill. Obviously Shada, Seth, those guys from my hometown. It's nice to have those guys around, they're doing things the right way.
Q: What's the season going to be like? Last year left a sour taste in everyone's mouth.
Tarpinian: We're practicing confident and we're going to play confident. We've got big hopes.
Q: Two months from now, you expect to be playing?
Tarpinian: That's the plan, yeah. I'm not really sure, but we'll see what happens. I hope I can be out there, being part of the team, helping out somehow.
