Hawkeye Victory Impresses Recruits

It was a great day for Coach Ferentz and the Hawkeye football program in the 42-35 OT defeat of Penn State. This victory certainly has helped put Iowa back on the national map, but how did it effect Iowa's recruiting? Pennsylvania has a lot of prospects gaining top notch interest from the Hawks, and HTO.com got many of their thoughts on the Hawkeye victory.

QB Dave Shinskie:
"It was a great game to watch. Penn State came from behind, but Iowa was able to hold on. I always thought Iowa was good, but this was a boost. I had picked them to win with buddies, but they surprised me in how they beat up Penn State."

RB Travis Thomas:
"I did not get to view any of the game, but I saw the score. I attended the Pitt/Toledo game and hung out downtown Pittsburgh all afternoon. I was high on Iowa already, but that was a convincing victory. I got to see them and their running attack on television against Iowa State. I'll be visiting Iowa on November 22nd."

TE Jonathan Stupar:
"I was in attendance for Jonathan and my husband, Steve, on Saturday as they were officially visiting Arizona State," Cher Stupar stated to HTO.com. "I come from a football family (her brother is former NFL quarterback Jeff Hostettler) so I feel that I can do a good job representing our thoughts. It was a great game to watch as Iowa held on to the victory. Coach (Reese) Morgan seemed to have terrific communication with the players, and specifically his tight ends. Dallas Clark performed well, and I watched how Iowa moved him around and split him out in the open. I called Steve a few times while I was at the game to give him updates and they were thrilled to hear how great of a game it was out in Arizona. Both of them will be making the trip to Iowa City this weekend to watch them against Purdue."

RB Darrell Blackman:
"It was a nice game for Iowa. They had a nice offensive gameplan and mixed it up on defense. I was interested early in Iowa, and then they kind of backed up on my list. Now, after watching a few of their games, they are probably one of my top five schools. I like how they run the ball and use the running back in a variety of ways. Today, my teammate DE Raymond Brooks and I spoke about making a visit to Iowa City together at practice. I know that I've discussed with the coaches about visiting either December 13th thru 15th or Janurary 17th thru 19th. I only have one visit set-up right now to North Carolina State on December 6th."

Certainly, good news abot Iowa is floating around the state of Pennsylvania after the Hawks victory over Penn State. Now the next step will be continuing the momentum throughout Big Ten play, and wrapping up these recruits on their visits.
