Iowa never let Indiana into the game, despite a slow offensive start. After scoring only 7 points in the opening quarter on a 14-yard Christensen to DJK score, Iowa put up impressive numbers in the second quarter, with three touchdowns. The first was on an 18-yard run by Albert Young, followed by a 4 yard pass from Christensen to Tyler Gerstandt, and an 11-yard pass from Christensen to Cleveland with 17 seconds left in the half to give the Hawks a 28-0 lead heading into the locker room.
In the second half, the Hawkeyes picked up right where they left off, with the second hookup between Christensen and Cleveland, this time for 23 yards. They would connect for one more TD score in the third quarter, but not before Devan Moylan took a Kellen Lewis interception back 29 yards for a touchdown.
With the Hawks leading 49-0 heading into the fourth quatrer, some replacements entered the game. Ricky Stanzi entered the game, leading his team down the field for another score. Jacody Coleman, Cedric Everson, Jordan Bernstine, Adrian Clayborn, and Christian Ballard all saw the field in the final quarter, helping lock up the shutout, 56-0.
