Q: Just talk about moving around on defense, losing two guys.
Adam Shada: We were m8issing a couple guys, but it shouldn't matter. We have plenty of depth on this team. Guys fill in, that doesn't have anything to do with it. We just didn't make the plays when they were there to be made. We had some mistakes, and they took advantage.
Q: What is it about coming out at home a bit flat? On the road it seems you guys are more focused.
Shada: I don?t know if that's the case. I don't think we played great in Ames in the first half. I don't know what it was. I thought we came out ready to play, but we gave up a couple plays, that was the story of the game. We didn't make plays when they were there to be made, and they did.
Q: Did they show you everything you worked on? Was that what you saw on film?
Shada: There were no real gadgets. They are 4 WR, maybe 3 or 5, but they pretty much did what they do. We didn't play our defense. We didn't execute the way we should have.
Q: Is coverage different when you've got a mobile QB coming out of the pocket?
Shada: The coverage doesn't change, but when we blitz it's a different story. He's more dangerous outside the pocket. He has two threats, not only being blitz coverage, but the blitz itself. He's obviously a dangerous QB and we didn't handle it very well.
Q: How did your responsibilities change playing safety?
Shada: It's just a different position. Safety instead of corner.
Q: When did you find out you were playing safety?
Q: Where does the team go from this, wipe the slate, move forward?
Shada: It's going to hurt for a day, but we have to be responsible, we have to be men, we have to be football players. We can't let it hurt for more than a day. We're going to see what we're made of. It's not fun losing games like this, it's not easy to bounce back, but we have no choice. Fortunately, I think we do have good senior leadership. We'll test it this week, but right now you just get back to work, work harder, and more consistently.
