D.J. Woods Visits Iowa City

D.J. Woods, a 3-star WR out of Strongsville (Ohio) HS, took an official visit to Iowa City this weekend, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes win back Floyd of Rosedale, beating the Gophers 21-16. Find out what Woods had to say about his visit, the game, his plans for the future and more in this premium recruiting Q&A.

Q: What did you get up to this weekend?

D.J. Woods: It was good. I got there on Friday afternoon. I met with the coaches, went to practice. Then we went out to dinner with the receiver coach, and talked to him for a bit. Saturday, I went to the game. It was a good atmosphere and a good game. Iowa won, which made it even better. After the game, Diauntae Morrow and I chilled the rest of the day, it was nice. I went out to Dinner with Coach Ferentz and a couple other position coaches. That was nice, too. On Sunday, I met with the academic advisor and Coach Ferentz again.

Q: Anything surprise you?

Woods: Not really. Actually, the people. I didn't expect that many people. I walked downtown after the game, Diauntae showed me around, there are a lot of people, a lot of nice people out there. That was probably the biggest thing.

Q: Was there something that stood out the most? The game, or the one-on-ones?

Woods: Probably the game. I'd never been down there for a game, so that was the biggest thing.

Q: People think Iowa, they think corn and pigs. What did you see?

Woods: Iowa City is just the regular city, it felt like a regular town to me. They've got a lot of corn around them, but oh well. It was nice overall.

Q: Any other visits scheduled?

Woods: I don't have any scheduled, no.

Q: Any timeline for a decision?

Woods: I'll probably hold out, make sure I make the right choice this time. I'll wait until the middle or end of December.

Q: Who are your top few schools?

Woods: Auburn, West Virginia, Penn State, Illinois and Iowa.
