Seth Gorney

After you made the three, what did Coach Lick tell you after you sat down?

He told me that he didn‘t think that the "X" I threw up was worth it. (Gorney likes to make an X with his arms after a nice play by him) He told me that he thinks I should be able to make those shots and be humble about it, I guess, and respect the other team. I thought it was worth it. (chuckles)

You had three guys that went perfect from the field. Have you ever seen a game like that?

That‘s the first time I‘ve heard it. It doesn‘t happen much. To have three people do perfect is impressive.

How easy is it to play a game when everybody is hitting shots like that?

It‘s very easy as long as they‘re not 1 for 1 or 2 for 2. Everyone else was making shots.

Can you talk about your defense?

That‘s Coach Lickliter‘s system. It‘s defense first. We want to protect our home court as much as we can. We‘ve let up a little bit. We‘re trying to make a stretch here at the end to keep our momentum going and protect home court. Defense wins games.

How about Jeff‘s effort off of the bench tonight?

Jeff is an amazing player. He‘s a great guy. He‘s not afraid to make big plays. He‘s a real good point guard, overall, for us.

Has he started to find his comfort level again after he had it early in the year?

I really think he is. He had a stretch where he wasn‘t playing much and it kind of got in his head. He wanted to show coach, I‘m here and this is why I‘m here. He‘s been doing it.

Jeff Peterson

You couldn‘t top how you did today in terms of perfection from the field. Could you talk about that a little bit?

It felt good. The whole team played very well today, whether it be making shots or getting rebounds or playing very good defense. We played very well, all of us, and it just feels good to win.

Coach Lickliter said that you just seemed to be in the flow of the game and looked comfortable. Is that how you felt out there?

Yeah, I‘ve been working a lot on that, just trying to stay poised under every situation whether we‘re up 10, down 10, anything. I‘m just trying to stay under control and continue to do my part.

Did you realize that you hadn't missed a shot?

No, I didn‘t, not until after the game. Coach Jordan told me.

Coach Lickliter also said he‘s been demanding of you at times. How has that helped you?

It helps a lot. I look at it as if he‘s not going to push me and stuff then he really doesn‘t want me to get better. I never think that he‘s being too hard on me. That‘s what I want. I don‘t want anyone to coach me and not demand anything of me.

Can you talk about the defensive effort in the first 15 minutes of the game?

We played very good defense. Bigs, guards, everything, we were pretty well focused coming into the game. It definitely paid off.

Cyrus Tate

Can you talk about the win, overall?

It was a much-needed win. We all played together. We just have to keep doing it.

Have you ever seen a game like that where three players al went perfect from the field?

Coach always says do what you do best. I did what I do best, score around the rim. Seth is a good shooter, so shoots the ball. And Jeff, he just really brought it today. We need that a lot from him.

How big was Jeff‘s game today?

Jeff had a great day today, especially since it was his birthday today. You all didn‘t know that. He played great and we really need him. We need him in the stretch at the end of the season for the Big Ten Tournament and all of that stuff.

How much pride do you take in your defense?

A lot. Coach, in the whole practice for Penn State, we did mostly defensive drills.

Do you take pride in playing tough defense at home?

We love our home fans. They get us going. We wish they could come on the road with us. I guess you can‘t arrange that.

What does it say about this team that Tony and J.J. had off nights, yet you guys won convincingly?

We had other guys pick up for them. These teams do their scouting reports on us and they know who to go after. They did a good job of guarding those guys, but the other guys stepped up.

Why were you able to have 13 rebounds?

I just went to the boards aggressively. I just wanted it.
