Hawkeyes Engaging in Battle for QB

Excitement has ran rampant around Iowa after word struck on Iowa being added to the list of QB Chris Leak. However, many Hawk fans have yet to take notice that perhaps the biggest sleeper QB in the nation, James Battle, also has a serious interest in the Hawkeyes. HTO.com has the latest on his recruitment.

A lot of people around the nation are taking notice of the season being conducted by QB Brad Banks. In fact, it is not only the media, but many young quarterbacks who are being faced in making their selection of where to play football.

"I like the way Iowa's offense runs around Banks," Battle stated. "I watch Banks a lot and envision myself in that position. I'm not out looking for the top ranked team, but I want to win as people are a lot more happy with victories rather than losses."

Also, it should come to no surprise that Iowa is using Brad Banks name frequently in dicussions of an official visit.

"They are tying to get me to set-up a visit as they want me to come up there and check it out. They told me Brad Banks would be my host."

While Brad Banks and the Hawkeyes have caught the attention of Battle, he is no where near deciding his official visit list quite yet.

"Right now, I have offers from Missouri, Kansas, Kansas State, Tennessee, Baylor, TCU, SMU, Iowa, and Iowa State," Battle added. "I'm taking everything slow with every school. I'll be waiting until after the season to set my visits."

James has been described by many down in Texas as a clone of the dual threat quarterbacks in college football like Brad Banks. That has not stopped him from also putting up some of the nation's top passing figures in limited action.

"I've only played two full games this year with all the blow-outs we have won. This season, I've passed for 1,633 yards on 109 completions out of 140 attempts. I also have passed for 20 touchdowns this fall."

A lot of those touchdowns have gone to Bank's farget target, Phillip Jones, who also currently has an Iowa offer on the table. Could they possibly end up visiting Iowa together?

"We don't really talk to each other about our recruitment. Right now, we are just focused on our season and having fun. However, it'd be a plus if he did come with me as we know each other's styles. We both know where to put the ball in situations."

The Hawks have seen a very good relationship between cousins Brad Banks and CJ Jones this fall, and would love to see another close relationship form with the potential duo of Battle and Jones. Right now, James is not playing favorites, but the Hawks appear to be in good shape for an official visit.
