Blackman and Brooks Set to Visit This Weekend

Two of the best prospects in the Big Ten region will be making an official visit together this weekend. Darrell Blackman, a 6-foot, 200-pound, running back and Raymond Brooks, a 6-foot-4, 245-pound, fullback, defensive end from Williamsport, Pennsylvania will be in Iowa City for a visit with the 2002 Big Ten Champion Iowa Hawkeyes.

We asked Williamsport head coach Steve Radocaj if he could shed some light on his blue-chip prospects.

"We call them "Thunder & Lightning," Radocaj said.

"Darrell has rushed for a little over 6,500 yards and 70 touchdowns in his three year career. He averages about 10 yards per carry.

"Darrell has great vision. That's his biggest strength. He's a big back that can run 4.4 and he can make defenders miss.

"Both Darrell and Raymond are going to Iowa this weekend (11-22) and Darrell has a couple of visits set with North Carolina State (12-6) and Maryland (12-13). Everything is open after those three schools.

"Raymond has unbelievable speed for his size. He can run the 40 in the 4.5 range and he's just an impressive looking kid.

"He (Brooks) has returned two kicks 90 plus yards for touchdowns this year. He's a great lead blocker and he just scares people. You see him in pads and your jaw drops.

"I think Raymond will be a defender in college. He can play a defensive end or a linebacker with his speed.

"Iowa, Boston College, Maryland, North Carolina State and Virginia are the schools that Ray will visit."

Steve Radocaj has been head coach at Williamsport for three years. This year his squad finished with a 7-4 record.
