Drew Clark, a 6-4, 280 pound lineman out of Marion High School in Marion, Iowa made a call to Kirk Ferentz this morning to let him know he'd like to be a Hawkeye. Read more from Drew on his decision in this premium recruiting Q&A.

Q: What swayed your decision toward Iowa?

Drew Clark:I talked to the coaching staff at Iowa quite a bit, developed some good relationships with Coach Ferentz and Coach Morgan. I just feel like it's a good fit for me.

Q: Who'd you call, when you made your choice?

Clark:I called Coach Ferentz. I told him I wanted to be a Hawkeye and I guess today was his birthday, he said this was his first birthday present.

Q: Did you speak with any of the other coaches?

Clark:He passed the phone to Coach Morgan, I talked to him for a while, they all seemed real excited. I was excited too.

Q: You've been on vacation for the past week or so, was that helpful to sort things out?

Clark:We usually go down to Branson, Missouri around this time every year. It was a good time to relax, get away from everything, have time to think about it.

Q: You grew up a Hawkeye fan, correct?

Clark:Yeah, my uncle played for the Hawkeyes in the 80s, Craig Clark, he was a tight end when Chuck Long was there, with those guys.

Q: Have you talked much with (former Marion teammate) Allen Reisner during the recruiting process?

Clark:I wouldn't say a lot, but I've talked to him to see how he's doing, and I've seen him at a couple of the scrimmages that I went to in Iowa City.

Q: He had to sweat it out a bit, his offer didn't come until February, is it nice to have it out of the way early?

Clark:It was good to know, and focus on my senior season, help out my team as much as I can.
