QB Chris Leak Continues to Roll

Quarterback Chris Leak is having a terrific season. The senior from Charlotte (N.C.) Independence High School has led his team to a 14-0 record and a birth in the state semi-finals against Butler this weekend. Along the way, Leak has thrown for 4,640 yards and 60 touchdown passes (9 interceptions) this season. Amazing. Leak has even had time to squeeze in four official visits this season, with a visit to Southern Cal last weekend being his latest trip.

"It was my first time there and very nice," said Leak. "I had a chance to sit down and have a good talk with Coach Carroll and Chow. They are both honest and trust worthy. You can tell how much they care about their players. I also spent some time with Carson Palmer. They run a very similar offense to what we do now. Distance doesn't matter either. Overall, it was just a good experience."

Now Leak has already taken official visits to Florida, Texas and Florida State. Iowa looms this weekend. Does he have a favorite right now?

"No. They have all been great visits and all these schools have their own pros and cons."

Florida and USC made in-home visits with Leak yesterday. Iowa came in on Monday. Florida State is trying to make one for today but the bad weather in the South could hinder that.

After Leak gets back from Iowa this weekend, he hopes to be preparing for the state championship. Following that will be a Shrine Bowl Invitation (North Carolina/ South Carolina All-Star game), a trip to Atlanta for a guest appearance on Fox Sports Net South's Countdown To Signing Day, and finally the All-American Bowl in San Antonio (Texas) .

"My plan is to announce at halftime of that game where I am going to school."
